1965 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued law 14/ 1965 approving Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) agreement.
1965 -- The Amir Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah issued law 16/1965, blessing the 1963 Treaty on Banning Nuclear Weapon Tests in the Atmosphere, in Outer Space, and under Water.
1971 -- Hardan Al-Tikriti, former Iraqi Vice President, was assassinated during an unofficial visit to Kuwait.
1979 -- The Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah addressed final session of the Yemeni summit in Kuwait, attended by President Ali Abdullah Saleh and Abdulfattah Ismail, in which they affirmed commitment to reach an understanding and achieve aspirations of the Yemeni people.
1988 -- Three speedboats attacked a Kuwaiti military post on Boubyan Island, injuring two Kuwaiti soldiers.
2000 -- Izzat Jaafar died at the age of 88. Jaafar assumed many honorary posts at the Amiri Diwan. He also helped establish the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company (KOTC) and the Kuwait-Danish Dairy Company (KDD).
2003 -- Kuwait asked the Libyan charge d'affaires to leave the country and asked Tripoli to lower number of its diplomats in Kuwait to match number of Kuwaiti diplomats based in the Libyan capital.
2005 -- First Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah issued a ministerial decree stating civil identification cards are to be used instead of passports for travel to and from Qatar, Oman, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates.
2008 -- Kuwait Sports Club was crowned champion of the premier football league.
2008 -- First issue of As-Sabah Paper hit the stands. It was a political daily newspaper issued by As-Sabah publishing house with Barakat Awadh Al-Hdaiban as Editor in Chief.
2011 -- The Ministry of Transport announced opening nine new centers to serve citizens in various areas in Kuwait in order to make it easier for consumers (individuals/institutions) to pay telephone fees and obtain clearance certificates.
2011 -- The Ministry of Communications opened nine new centers for citizen's service in various regions. (end) gta
