BAGHDAD, March 29 (KUNA) -- Ten Iraqis were killed Wednesday evening when an explosives-laden tanker exploded southern Baghdad, security source announced.
A suicide bomber has blown up his booby-trapped tanker near a police checkpoint in Al-Rasheed neighborhood in the Iraqi capital city, a security source told KUNA on condition on anonymity.
The source added that the massive explosion killed at least 10 people on spot and injured 40 others, some severely.
Police cordoned off the area and rescue teams have rushed the wounded to nearby hospitals, the source stated.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far, but the source viewed that the attack bears the hallmarks of the so-called Islamic State militants. (end)
