DEAD SEA, Jordan, March 29 (KUNA) -- First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shaikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said that the speech delivered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah at the Arab summit earlier Wednesday included "examples and lessons " for developing Arab joint action.
His Highness the Amir has set forth a methodology of Arab cooperation to confront the challenges and dangers surrounding the region, and to fortify societies and to correct the path to enable Arab unity, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled said.
The minister made the comments in an interview with KUNA and Kuwait TV, before leaving Jordan after the conclusion of the 28th Arab Leagues summit.
He pointed out that such speech was direct and candid, and "it is what was needed to assess our approach and style on we work to strengthen our unity and cohesion of our societies." He added that Arab leaders had presented 16 items out of 27 decisions which were adopted within the framework of emphasizing the path toward Arab joint action and achieving Arab economic integration to meet the aspirations of the Arab peoples.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled noted that Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Libya current developments, as well as the main and vital Palestinian issue, were basic and fundamental issues, and were among the summit's main discussions.
On bilateral meetings held with Arab leaders, Sheikh Sabah said that His Highness the Amir met with Jordanian King Abdullah II at the beginning of the summit, and the two the summit's agenda reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries.
The minister noted that His Highness the Amir received on the sidelines of the summit, the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abbadi, where they discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them.
Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled noted Kuwait's leader paid a visit to his brother the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, during which the two discussed bolstering ties in all fields.
The minister added that the summit in Jordan was a success and expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Jordanian leadership, government, and people for their efforts to ensure its success. (end) amm.mjb.mb
