Suspect in custody after ramming police vehicle

WASHINGTON, March 29 (KUNA) -- A suspect has been arrested by the US Capitol Police after ramming into one of their cruisers Wednesday.
The incident occurred in front of the Capitol building, the seat of Congress, where police fired multiple shots, according to local news reports.
The motive is unknown and police are looking into whether the suspect had accomplices.

A Capitol Police spokesperson told reporters later Wednesday that the incident in which a vehicle ran into a police cruiser has "no nexus to terrorism," and confirmed that a lone suspect is in custody.
The incident began during a traffic stop, the spokesperson said, when the suspect attempted to flee the scene and rammed into a police vehicle, prompting officers to open fire. It is being investigated as a criminal case, and the Capitol building remains open for business and visitors, the spokesperson said. (end) ys.rk
