Kuwaiti army keen on enhancing air combat capabilities - official

KUWAIT, March 26 (KUNA) -- Chief of General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army Lt.-Gen. Staff Mohammad Khaled Al-Khodr affirmed Sunday the army's keenness on enhancing and boosting its air combat capabilities in light of recent regional and international events and developments.
Al-Khodr made his remarks in a speech at the first air forces and air defense conference 2017, organized by the defense ministry and under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
He indicated that "decisive eagles" exercise aims at boosting information exchange operations, and coordinating efforts, on regional level, against possible air rocket threats, stressing the importance of enhancing the concepts of information and intelligence for air defenses development.
The Kuwaiti army chief also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled for sponsoring the event, wishing success for everyone and the conference.
For his part, Air Force Deputy Commander Group Cpt Abdullah Al-Foudari said that organizing the conference for the first time reflects the major confidence that the Kuwaiti military institution enjoys in light of ongoing security challenges in the region.
He added that the participation of air force leaders from brotherly and friendly countries is a main foundation for the event. (end) hmd.asa.ma
