Tens of thousands of British people protest against Brexit

LONDON, March 25 (KUNA) -- Tens of thousands of British people took to the streets in London on Saturday to protest against their country's quitting the European Union (EU).
The protesters, estimated at 100,000 people, also observed a minute of silence before the parliament's building in Westminster for the victims of last Wednesday's attack.
The protest, organized by Unite for Europe group, included a large number of opposition and members of parliament in addition to political leaders.
The protesters carried signs calling for stop of Brexit, the term used meaning Britain exiting from the EU, while other signs congratulated the EU's 60th anniversary, an event celebrated in Rome, Italyu, without Britain.
Organizers of the protest refused to cancel the rally following the parliament's attack. They said they would not be intimidated and would show solidarity with victims.
The protest took place four days before Prime Minister Theresa May triggers Article 50 of the Liston Treaty, which would launch official negotiations over Britain's leaving the EU. (end) mrn.bs
