UNSC discusses use of chemical weapons in Iraq

NEW YORK, March 25 (KUNA) -- Russia and China circulated a draft resolution to members of the UN Security Council in regards to the use of chemical weapons in Iraq late Friday.
This was at a closed session called by Russia, where members of the Council discussed the situation in Mosul, and recent reports of the use of chemical weapons by the so-called Islamic State (IS) in Iraq.
British Ambassador Matthew Rycroft spoke to the press after the meeting in his capacity as President of the Council, affirming unanimous concern about the use of chemical weapons by "anyone anywhere." He told the press "we look forward to the results of the government of Iraq investigations into those allegations with the OPCW." OPCW is the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. No date was announced for the vote yet.(end) mao.ag
