KUWAIT, March 24 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanim held talks with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden Isabella Lovin, also Minister for International Development Cooperation, in Stockholm Friday.
The talks addressed ways to coordinate Kuwaiti-Swedish stands toward a number of several regional and international issues such as terrorism and Arab-European cooperation prospects, Natiaonal Assembly's media and public relations department said in a press statement.
The two sides also discussed their bilateral relations and similarities between their countries' foreign policies, particularly in humanitarian intervention and efforts in conflict and disaster-stricken countries, pointing out the urgency to coordinating joint effort in that regard.
For her part, Lovin commended Kuwait's recent humanitarian efforts, especially in organizing and hosting three international donors' conferences for Syria, in addition to its countless aid and relief campaigns in several countries in Asia and Africa.
In return, Al-Ghanim praised Stockholm's foreign policy in supporting peace initiatives and a number of Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, pointing out Sweden as the first European country to recognize Palestine as an independent state. (end) hrz.abd.ma
