Israeli troops injure 22 Palestinian protestors

RAMALLAH, March 24 (KUNA) -- Israeli troops firing tear gas and bullet-coated bullets dispersed a peaceful demonstration staged by Palestinians east of Ramallah city on Friday, wounding 24 of the protestors, the Palestinian Red Crescent said in a statement.
Fourteen of the demonstrators suffered from breathing difficulties due to th tear gas.
The troops fired intensive tear gas and rubber-coated bullets at the protestors, said Baalin Abed Abu-Rahma, coordinator of the people's committee for resisting occupation, in remarks to KUNA.
The protest was staged against recent erection of an outpost by hardline Jewish activists on a land east of Ramallah. They were fired upon when they tried to reach it today.
Meanwhile, Palestinians held a funeral for Mohammad Al-Khattab, a young man who was killed by Israeli troops on Thursday near Al-Jalazon camp.
The Palestinian government denounced Israel's continuing arbitrary practices against the Palestinians and urged the international community "to put an end to these violations and crimes. (end) nq.rk
