DEAD SEA, Jordan, March 23 (KUNA) -- Preparations for the Arab Summit to be hosted by Jordan next week came to a close in Amman Thursday, Arab League's Assistant Secretary-General for Financial and Administrative Affairs Adnan Al Khudair said.
Al-Khudair made the remark to reporters on the sidelines of preparatory meetings of the summit currently hosted in the Dead Sea region on March 23-29.
He extolled the level of coordination and cooperation between the League's Secretariat General and Jordan's concerned bodies that completed "perfectly" organizing measures.
He noted that many hopes are pinned on the Amman Summit.
Permeant Delegates to the Arab League would hold a meeting Saturday under chairmanship of Jordan's Ambassador to Egypt Ali Al-Ayed.
The meeting will discuss political topics and dossiers to be submitted to Arab foreign ministers during their preparatory meeting for the summit next Monday, he revealed.
Meanwhile, Jordan's Minister of State for Media Affair Mohammad Mohammad Al Momani said current preparatory meetings will discuss a draft resolution on supporting countries hosting Syrian refugees, mainly Jordan.
This came in a news conference after concluding the social and economic council meeting earlier today.
The draft resolution will be referred to Arab ministers of finance and economy during their meeting next Sunday that focuses on burdens on countries hosting refugees.
He noted that Jordan is hosting up to 1.3 million refugees of Syria, making up 18 percent of the country's total population.
The Syrian crisis has created many burdens on Jordan since 2012, he said, indicating that today's meeting agreed on backing host countries, including Egypt and Lebanon as well.
For her part, Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for Media Affairs Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said the upcoming summit will be held at a "very critical time" due to continued disputes and terrorism spreading in the region.
Settling disputes in Syria, Libya and Yemen, and combating terrorism as well as resolving the Palestinian cause and refugees' crisis will feature high on the summit's agenda, she added.
The summit will witness a "big" presence of Arab leaders as they have good relations with King Abdullah II of Jordan, she affirmed.
Abu Ghazaleh expressed her hope that the summit would take "decisive" resolutions regarding all issues on the agenda. (pickup) previous) mjb.amm.hm
