KUWAIT, March 23 (KUNA) -- Deputy Chief of the National Guard Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah met on Thursday with the Chief of the British Defense Staff Sir Stuart Peach, as talks centered on bilateral military ties.
During his meeting with the British military official and his accompanying delegation, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad spoke of the Kuwaiti National Guard's eagerness for increased cooperation with its allies, part of efforts to bring its strategy for the year 2020 to fruition, a statement by the National Guard noted.
Moreover, Undersecretary of the National Guard Lieutenant General Hashim Al-Refai said that the military force has a profound desire for closer ties with the British army.
Meanwhile, the Chief of the British Defense Staff described Britain's ties with Kuwait as robust, saying that the meeting is a "step towards greater cooperation." The meeting was attended by a number of senior Kuwaiti and British military officials. (end) hmd.nam
