French FM heads to Britain for talks after London attack

PARIS, March 23 (KUNA) -- French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault headed to London Thursday morning to hold talks with British authorities after the attack at the London parliament left five people dead and 40 wounded, three of them French children.
A statement from the French Foreign Ministry said Ayrault will bring a message to the British government and people and "will attest to the solidarity of France" after this "terrible terrorist attack" which the Foreign Minister described Wednesday as "cowardly." French President Francois Hollande late Wednesday ordered a government plane to transport to London relatives of the three French school-children injured in the attack.
Ayrault will visit the families of the school-children who were injured when a lone man rammed his car into pedestrians near the Parliament, before killing a police officer in a stabbing incident. The attacker was subsequently shot dead and police operations were underway Thursday in the Midlands city of Birmingham to seek out any accomplices.
The French Minister "will recall the unfailing commitment of France to fight against terrorism," the statement said. (end) jk.mb
