First Kuwait Film Festival to honor Kuwaiti filmmaking pioneers

KUWAIT, March 23 (KUNA) -- In recognition of their efforts to bring the art of cinema to the masses, the First Kuwait Film Festival, on March 24-28, will honor the pioneers of filmmaking in the country.
The National Council for Culture, Arts, and Letters (NCCAL) will be organizing this festival considered as the first event of its kind held in Kuwait.
Filmmakers and Directors Hashim Mohammad Al-Shakhes, Abdullah Al-Mkhyal, Khaled Al-Naserallah, Khaled Al-Saddiq, and others will be honored for their contributions to Kuwaiti cinema and film.
The festival will include an event aimed at launching a fund for supporting film projects in Kuwait.
The event will also include Arabic and English lectures connected with film production, moviemaking, acting, and cinema critique.
From Friday onward, the festival will screen a number of short movies, long features, documentaries, and independents films.
Next Tuesday, the festival will witnessed the handing of awards to filmmakers, directors, and actors in addition to other activities, which will conclude the first ever film festival. (end) sk.gta
