NYPD beefs up security presence following London attacks

NEW YORK, March 23 (KUNA) -- New York Police Department (NYPD) boosted security presence around the city in the wake of the deadly attack in London.
New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner James O'Neil said in a statement that the police department has strategically placed resources around the city in response to the terror attack near the Parliament in London.
The Department of Homeland Security released earlier today a statement that they were in contact with British authorities.
"Our frontline officers and agents continued to stay vigilant in safeguarding the American people and our homeland," the statement added.
The attack that took place Wednesday in London killed five people and wounded 20 others. (end) mao.gta
