KUWAIT, March 20 (KUNA) -- Under the patronage of His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber AlSabah, the Kuwait University (KU) on Monday held its graduation ceremony, batch 46, for the academic year 2015-2016 at Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Theater at Shuwaikh Campus.
Representing His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, who conveyed greetings and best wishes to the graduates from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
His Highness Sheikh Nawaf, in a speech delivered by His Highness the Premier, urged graduates to let science be their beacon in life, saying that the dearest gain for the country is that they join the enter professional life armed with science and knowledge to play their due positive and effective role to serve the nation.
His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince emphasized the capabilities of the Kuwaiti people to keep pace with the progress the world has achieved, saying Kuwait is proud of the scientific efficiencies and creative energies in the country, which have always manifested the bright image of the nation on all levels.
On his part, Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Mohammad Al-Fares addressed the ceremony saying the occasion coincides with the 50th anniversary of the university.
He added that science is essential for building nations, citing the example of Singapore, where education sector was a top priority given the largest portion of state budget allocated to it.
This has to be taken into consideration to achieve development and growth for Kuwait, as well as boosting national income, he pointed out.
Then KU Dean Dr. Hussein Al-Ansari urged graduates to carry on with their pursuit of science, and to work hard and gain more experience and knowledge to be able to contribute to the development of the nation. (end) msa
