BEIRUT, Feb 26 (KUNA) -- Head of Palestinian National Security Major General Soubhi Abu Arab Sunday warned of increasing tension in Palestinian Refugee Camp of Ain Al-Hilweh, south of Lebanon.
He accused "hired external agenda parties" of being responsible for the rising tension in the camp.
"Fatah movement has been maintaining Ain Al-Hilweh's security and the safety of its people, but if this group persists in tampering with the camp's security, the Movement will not tolerate it anymore and would fight back," he said.
He noted that "those attempting to fuel tension inside the camp ought to be handed over to the Lebanese state, since they are hired by foreign agendas to do so, and have nothing to do with the Palestinian cause whatsoever." Meanwhile, Palestinian factions reached an agreement late Sunday to cease fire and withdraw gunmen from the camp's streets, National News Agency (NNA) said. Contacts are still underway to implement what has been agreed upon, alongside serious discussions over finding radical and permanent solutions to the recurring security incidents within the camp, it added.
Clashes erupted between some gunmen of Fatah movement and militants inside the camp one day ago. The clashes led to the injury of some people, displacement of families, and damage of some buildings and institutions. (pickup previous) wsm.hm
