Syrian opposition says receives good ideas from de Mistura

GENEVA, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- The Syrian opposition taking part in negotiations with Damascus regime in Geneva said Friday they received good ideas from UN Special Representative to Syria Staffan de Mistura.
"The meeting (with de Mistura) was positive and dealt with principles of the political solution in Syria, which is the Geneva communique and relevant UN resolutions and all the way to resolution 2254," Nasr Hariri, president of the Syrian opposition higher negotiations authority, told a news conference.
The ideas tabled by de Mistura, he added, were about "serious involvement in the political transition process, and the following steps of writing a new constitution and elections." The ideas are "not specific steps," he explained, but only to lay the ground for negotiations in coming days with the hope of solving the crisis in Syria.
Hariri said the meeting with de Mistura also dealt with humanitarian issues, sustainability of the ceasefire, the Syrian regime's violations against the Syrian people and the truce.
"The international community realizes that the Syrian regime is cooperating with the terrorist groups including so-called Islamic State (IS)," he said. (pickup previous) ta.bs
