De Mistura discuss with Syrian Gov't, opposition some technicalities

GENEVA, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- Bashar Al-Jaafari, the head of the Syrian Government's delegation at the Geneva conciliation talks with opposition groups, declared on Friday that he had received proposals by the UN trouble-shooter Stafan de Mistura.
Al-Jaafari, speaking after the meeting with de Mistura, said the discussions with the UN mediator tackled nature of the discussions, indicating that Damascus would respond to his suggestions later.
De Mistura earlier held rounds of talks with the government and the opposition separately, tackling issues related to formal arrangements for the negotiations.
The opposition groups demand direct talks with the Syrian regime officials and pondering a political process according to the UN resolution 2254. The regime delegation insists on placing "fight against terrorism above any other topic" at the negotiating table. (end) ta.rk
