Trump to receive anti-IS strategy next week

WASHINGTON, Feb 21 (KUNA) -- The Pentagon is set to deliver its strategic plan to defeat the so-called Islamic State (IS) to President Donald Trump next week.
The plan will tackle IS "globally" and also "calls upon the capabilities of other departments" in the US government, Defense Department Spokesperson Jeff Davis told reporters on Tuesday. "We have been working diligently with our interagency partners to develop it with the intelligence community, our military commanders on the ground, the Joint Staff and our policy team here," Davis said.
Among the countries named in the strategy are Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Libya, he confirmed. Nearly one month ago, Trump signed an executive order calling on Secretary of Defense James Mattis to deliver him an anti-IS strategy within 30 days. (end) ys.gb
