DOHA, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The prominence of Islamophobia in recent years had led to many misrepresentations and misconceptions about the great religion of Islam.
Qatar, through the Doha International Center for Interfaith Dialogue (DICID), took a leading role in dispelling rumors and lies about Islam, providing an outlet that encourages dialogue amongst world religions.
Chairman of the center Professor Ibrahim Saleh Al-Naimi told KUNA that the DICID's main goal was to spread peace among followers of the world's three major religions Islam, Christianity, and Judaism in addition to other faiths.
Through intensive dialogue and understanding, the world could know more about Islam and in return, Islamophobia will be considered null, said the official who revealed that the DICID was established in 2007 to conquer fear and spread peace.
The DICID offers conferences, events, and publications to all portions of society and this part of the mission of the center, affirmed Al-Naimi who added that the center encouraged notions of peace and understanding via its Doha international prize for interfaith dialogue, which were handed out during the course of 12 DICID conferences.
