NEW YORK, Jan 25 (KUNA) -- Means of developing and promoting bilateral relations in several fields were a focus of the meeting between Kuwait's Permeant Delegate to the UN Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi and Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis on Wednesday.
During the meeting, Al-Otaibi conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the Costa Rican leader.
In a statement to KUNA over telephone, Al-Otaibi, who is a non-resident ambassador to Costa Rica, said that meetings held amongst senior officials of the two governments and visits by Kuwaiti parliamentary delegations to the capital, San Jose, have contributed to enhancing relations with Costa Rica.
He further added that the meeting between Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and his Costa Rican counterpart Manuel Gonzalez in New York last September has reflected the desire of the two countries to boost bilateral ties.
Al-Otaibi noted that he told President Solis about Kuwait's hope to finalize and sign the agreement on encouragement and reciprocal protection of investments.
He expressed Kuwait's gratitude to Costa Rica for its support to the country's bid to obtain a UNSC membership during the UN General Assembly elections slated for next June.
On visas, he said Solis voiced readiness to sign some agreements, including granting entry visa exemption for the two countries' citizens.
Meanwhile, Solis lauded developed relations with Kuwait and several cooperation agreements signed between the two sides.
In a separate meeting during his visit to Costa Rica, Al-Otaibi held talks with minister of foreign trade Alexander Mora on means of promoting commercial ties between Cosa Rica and GCC member states.
The Kuwaiti envoy also discussed with some officials at the foreign ministry ways of fostering cooperation and coordination on several issues on the agenda of the UN. (end) moa.hm
