US drone strike kills Al-Qaeda recruiter in Syria

WASHINGTON, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- A US drone airstrike last week killed Abd Al-Jalil Al-Muslimi, an Al-Qaeda facilitator, near Saraqib, Syria, the Pentagon said in a statement on Thursday.
Al-Muslimi, a Tunisian, was trained by the Taliban and facilitated travel for the group. "He had extensive and long-standing ties to numerous Al-Qaeda external operations planners and terrorists," read the statement.
His death will "degrade Al-Qaeda in Syria's access to that cadre of veteran plotters, which will likely disrupt its ongoing terror plotting," the statement added. (end) sd.gb
