KUWAIT, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- Somali Ambassador to Kuwait Abdul Qader Sheikh on Thursday lauded the State of Kuwait for aiding nations in need worldwide, namely his people who have been suffering from recurring droughts.
The ambassador, in a statement to KUNA as he emerged from a meeting with the Deputy Chairman of Kuwait Red Crescent Society Anwar Al-Hasawi, expressed gratitude for the generous aid provided to the Somali people, particularly the help following the drought that hit hi the nation in 2013.
The nation is anew witnessing dryness, he said, urging the Kuwaiti association to provide further aid to his people, who are also suffering from widespread diseases and hunger.
The Red Crescent has recently dug 15 water wells, built six orphanage houses and delivered more than 30,000 food parcels to Somalis. (end) aw.rk
