KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- The Mubarak Al-Kabeer port's location will be instrumental in rejuvenating Kuwait's economic and commercial relations with Iraq, Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudan said on Wednesday.
In a statement to the press after meeting with Kurdistan Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KFCCI) President Dr. Dara Al-Khayat, along with an accompanying delegation, Al-Roudan said that economic ties with Iraq have been hit hard as a result of political upheaval in Baghdad.
Moreover, he said that he discussed with the Iraqi delegation plans to facilitate the flow of goods between both nations, adding that the meeting will be a Launchpad for greater bilateral investment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Al-Khayat noted that Kuwaiti companies willing to invest in the autonomous region will be given special perks as it relates to the customs process.
The Iraqi official also pointed out that the meeting tackled plans to bolster economic ties between the two Gulf neighbors.
The Iraqi delegation is on an official visit to the country to examine with Kuwaiti officials strategies for closer economic ties. (end) skm.nam
