Legislative cmte approves amending electoral system

KUWAIT, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- A decision to amend the electoral vote was approved, Tuesday, by the National Assembly's legislative and parliamentary committee.
Head of the committee MP Mohammad Al-Dallah told the press that the new amendment will create an electoral system of five districts with each voter casting ballots for two candidates; the amendment was approved legally and constitutionally.
Other approvals were given to a suggestion to protect retirees' pensions, the establishment of a public company for water and power and an amendment of pre-marital screening test to include criminal record and free-from-disease report for applicants.
In addition, the committee approved drawing up regulations for health insurance and imposing additional fees for public health services on expats.
Moreover, the committee approved that military personnel of unidentified nationality to be included in the country's pension plan. (end) nma.nfm
