German plane confirmed clear after suspicion of bomb onboard - civil aviation

KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- A German low-cost airline was confirmed clear and safe after reports of a suspected bomb onboard, said Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday.
Eurowings had 299 passengers onboard and took off from Salalah, Oman en route to Cologne, Germany, DGCA's spokesman Mansour Al-Hashemi told KUNA.
He added that captain of the plane requested an emergency landing at Kuwait International Airport in accordance with required safety regulations.
According to Al-Hashemi, initial investigations confirmed the plane was explosives-free. (end) aam.hb
