IRBIL, Jan 13 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait on Friday delivered about 150 tons of food and relief materials to the liberated districts of the city of Mosul.
Representative of the Iraqi Unified Medical Association for Relief and Development Fahad Al-Obeidi told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that food baskets were distributed to the families in Mosul.
He added that some 5,000 food baskets were distributed with each weighing 30 kilograms. Al-Obeidi pointed out that other families in the province would receive other batches later.
On his part, Chairman of the Strategic Planning Commission Council of Nineveh province Khalaf Al-Hadidi said that Kuwait was among the first countries which assisted the province, expressing thanks and appreciation to the State of Kuwait for such generous aid.
Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) and other Kuwaiti charitable bodies have provided assistance in previous occasions to Iraqis escaping from Mosul, the last stronghold of the so-called Islamic State (IS) On October 16 of 2016, the Iraqi army - along with local and international allies- launched the "Battle of Mosul" operation which aims at ridding Iraq from IS.
