Turkish army says 32 IS militants killed in N. Syria

ISTANBUL, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- At least 32 militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) were killed in attacks in northern Syria on Sunday, the Turkish Army said.
The attacks are part of the ongoing Operation Euphrates Shield, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.
In addition, 292 IS targets, including shelters, defense positions and vehicles came under attack by Free Syrian Army (FSA), supported by the Turkish army, according to the statement.
Turkish Air force also hit 35 IS targets in Syria's Al-Bab, Suflaniyyah, Bzagah and Kabr al Mukri regions, including control points, shelters, positions and vehicles used by IS militants, the statement added.
The Turkey-led Operation Euphrates Shield began in late August to improve security, support coalition forces, and eliminate the terror threat along the Turkish border using FSA fighters backed by Turkish artillery and jets. (end) ta.mt
