Kuwait to take center stage at Dubai Expo 2020 - official

DUBAI, Jan 4 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's participation in the Dubai World Expo 2020 will be the focal point of the exhibition, Undersecretary of Kuwait's Ministry of Information Tarek Al-Merzem said on Wednesday.
Al-Merzem, who is the commissioner of Kuwait's pavilion at the expo, made the remark in a meeting with Emirati Minister of State for International Affairs and Director of the Dubai World Expo 2020 Reem Al-Hashimi.
On the meeting, Al-Merzem told KUNA that it tackled preparations to showcase Kuwait's pavilion at the expo in the most optimal way, adding that UAE officials have welcomed Kuwait's participation in the event with open arms.
Moreover, he noted that Kuwait aims to depict a highly civil and favorable image of the nation in an exhibition set to center on recent challenges faced by the international community, including economic and environmental ones.
"We are sparing no effort to ensure that a very pleasant image of Kuwait will be brought to the limelight," the Kuwaiti official said, highlighting the magnitude of an event set to attract visitors from all across the globe.
Meanwhile, in a statement to KUNA, Kuwait's Consul General in Dubai Theyab Al-Rashidi said that the meeting yielded a consensus over Kuwait's participation in the event.
He also added that through this expo, Kuwait's brotherly ties with the UAE will be evident as both nations work towards the "common goal" of ensuring the success of this cultural gala.
Bringing together more than 180 nations and an international audience of 25 million visitors, the expo is touted to be one of the greatest shows in the world. (end) smr.nam
