1957 -- Sheikh Abdullah Al-Jaber, minister of education, inaugurated Kuwait's first museum at Dasman Palace displaying artifacts from Failaka Island.
1961 -- An Amiri Decree was issued establishing Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, aimed at assisting Arab and underdeveloped countries to improve their economic situations by providing loans.
1964 -- Kuwait established diplomatic ties with France at the ambassadorial level.
1972 -- An Amiri Decree was issued approving the agreement for establishing the Arab Petroleum Transport Co.
1977 -- Kuwait's 12th Amir, Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, passed away. Sheikh Sabah had been the Amir of Kuwait since 1965.
1977 -- Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, became Kuwait's 13th Amir.
1980 -- Nigeria opened an embassy in Kuwait.
1980 -- An Amiri Decree was issued regulating state property and tasking the Finance Ministry with overseeing state interests in this area.
1983 -- Renowned Kuwaiti poet Fahad Abdulmohsen Al-Fahad, better known as Al-Khashram, passed away at the age of 75.
2002 -- The Amir, Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, was received with cheers and applause at Bayan Palace on the occasion of his 25th anniversary of becoming Amir.
2005 -- The Central Bank of Kuwait began implementation of Basel III treaty.
2007 -- Minister of Justice and Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Jamal Al-Shehab issued a decision, recognizing Kuwait Al-Khair fund, aiming to support orphans.
2007 -- Inflation in Kuwait reaches an all-time high of 7.5 percent.
2008 -- The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) announced that Kuwait's population reached 3,441,813, of which 1,078,552 are Kuwaitis.
