BAGHDAD, Dec 28 (KUNA) -- The Iraqi Foreign Ministry on Wednesday expressed optimism that the Iraqi Cabinet would endorse the "file of the Iraqi-Kuwaiti maps." This file is currently under examination by the Iraqi Cabinet for endorsement, said Omar Al-Baraznji, the Iraqi Foreign Undersecretary, in a statement to KUNA, expressing optimism that it "would be tackled in a final manner." Al-Barzanji added that the "issue of the maps" was recently discussed with the Kuwaiti side during meetings held at the UN headquarters, "amid a positive atmosphere." He added that the Iraqi delegation submitted the file, following the meetings, to the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari who in turned referred it to the Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi. The latter submited it to the cabinet for adoption.
"Indications regarding this file are satisfactory," he added.
Senior Iraqi and Kuwaiti officials held a meeting in Baghdad, on Tuesday, preparing for the sixth session of the Supreme Joint Commission, due today.
Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the State of Kuwait Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, arrived in Baghdad earlier on Wednesday, to take part in the ministerial meeting scheduled later today. (end) ah.rk
