BEIRUT, Dec 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) on Friday granted the Children's Cancer Center of Lebanon USD 1 million to provide medical care for Syrian children in Lebanon who are suffering from cancer.
This grant is a part of Kuwait's commitment towards Syrian people announced in the 4th donors conference for Syria, Director General of KFAED Abdulwahab Al-Bader told KUNA following the signing of the grant agreement.
Bader pointed out that the grant targets Syrian children, the most vulnerable segment among Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
Kuwait has been one of the leading countries in providing relief aid to the conflict-affected Syrian people through government and non-government organizations as well as the state hosting of three conferences for international donors, he added.
For her part, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cancer Center Nour Jumblat expressed gratitude to His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Kuwaiti government and people for their support to Syrian refugees and their hosting countries.
She also thanked KFAED for its grant to the center to help provide free medical care for Syrian children suffering from cancer. (end) mah.ibi
