OPEC, non-OPEC countries meeting in Vienna "significant" - Barkindo

By Abdelwahab El-Gueyed

VIENNA, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of OPEC Mohammed Barkindo said Saturday the organization's ministerial meeting for oil-producing countries from inside and outside the organization will focus on implement the recent Vienna's agreement on cutting production.
Eleven countries from outside OPEC will take part in this historic meeting later today, Barkindo said in an exclusive interview with Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) before the event.
He expressed optimism about outcomes of this meeting and hoped that the results would meet interests of producers and consumers alike.
He pointed out that the meeting would see the ratification of the Vienna Declaration among oil producers adopted on November 30 in Vienna.
Barkindo also expected that some oil-producing countries would join the special ministerial monitoring committee stemming from OPEC which is chaired by Kuwait and grouped Algeria and Venezuela.
The committee was established to monitor the implementation of what was agreed upon during the last ministerial meeting of OPEC and to ensure commitment to reduced productions quotas, said the official. (end) amq.tg
