Syrian opposition fighters, families leave Al-Tal city

AMMAN, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Hundreds of opposition fighters and their families have left Al-Tal city Friday as per an agreement reached with Syrian regime.
The Syrian news agency (SANA) quoted a source at the reconciliation committee in Al-Tal city in Damascus Countryside as saying that "the city has become clear of weapons and militants in a step that paves the way for the return of state institutions." The source affirmed that the agreement, which was reached in the past few days to end to armed presence in the city, has been implemented.
The source added that a number of militants have had their legal status settled according to Amnesty Decree No. 15 for 2016 while the rest of militants have been guaranteed an exit after they laid down arms to make the city fully free of weapons and militants.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) also confirmed that SANA report.
It stated that the second batch of buses carrying hundreds of faction members of Al-Tal city and its surroundings and their families has left the city heading to Idlib province north of Syria.
It added that the evacuation of the opposition fighters and their families in Al-Tal city is a new episode of a series of regime success to force besieged opposition fighters, especially in areas surrounding the capital, to hand in their weapons and leave their controlled areas in return for compromise deals that allow safe passage for them and their families to other provinces.
In the meantime, SOHR reported that hundreds of people in several cities, towns and villages of Syria started demonstrations during of which they demanded the factions to unite their lines and support the steadfastness of the people of the eastern Aleppo who are besieged by the regime forces and militiamen loyal to them.
