US jobless drops to 4.6 %, lowest in more than 9 years

WASHINGTON, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- US employers added 178,000 jobs in November, dropping the unemployment rate to 4.6 percent, its lowest level in more than nine years, the Labor Department reported on Friday.
Economists said the news in the monthly report made it virtually certain that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates this month.
Department data for September and October was revised to reflect 2,000 fewer jobs created than previously reported. The drop in the unemployment rate last month from 4.9 percent resulted from more people finding work as well as dropping out of the labor force, the latest data showed. (end) rm.msa
