BRUSSELS, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- The President of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker has called on Europe not to give lectures to Turkey about the migrant crisis, saying that the country is doing much more on this issue than Europe.
"Turkey is an important partner not only for the migration crisis. This aspect is obvious. But it houses on its territory over three million migrants and refugees which Europe for its part doesn't do," he told the Euronews TV channel in an interview on Saturday.
"So I would like Europe to refrain from giving lessons to Turkey on that matter. Turkey does much more than Europe as do Jordan and Lebanon. So we need to be humble when we speak on these issues," he said.
His comments come after the European Parliament on Thursday called for the freezing of EU membership talks with Turkey. the channel will broadcast the full interview with Juncker Saturday night. (end) nk.hm
