KUWAIT, Nov 22 (KUNA) -- The upcoming 2016 elections represent a new chapter in Kuwait's democratic history, Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah said on Tuesday.
Voicing optimism over the country's future in the next stage in light of the parliament elections, slated for November 26, Sheikh Salman Al-Sabah said "We seek Kuwait's interest first and foremost." His remarks came during his opening of the elections media center at Sheraton Hotel earlier today, pointing out the great and quantum leap witnessed by the state on all levels.
He attributed such advancement to "political stability and cooperation among state institutions, as well as having a positive outlook in order to maintain our principles." The fully-equipped center will provide logistical and technical services to some 120 media people from all over the world.
A complete program is set for local and visiting media personnel, including the holding of two seminars; on history of elections in Kuwait and on Kuwait's pioneering humanitarian action.
Media delegations are also scheduled to visit the National Assembly (parliament) building, as well as visiting a number of elections' headquarters throughout the five constituencies in order to familiarize them with the electoral process. (end) om.hb
