KUWAIT, Nov 21 (KUNA) -- Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Bader Al-Isa stressed on Monday that the religious education curricula accredited by the ministry are free of extremism, and spur national unity and societal cohesion.
This came in Al-Isa's speech while inaugurating a celebration on "with our Islamic values, we keep our identity" that was held as part of the celebrations of Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016.
These curricula discard division, differences and disputes that split the country, he said.
True Muslim is the one who reflects the real image of Islam which calls for moderation and rejects extremism, he affirmed.
Kuwait was chosen as the capital of Islamic culture for the great role of Kuwaitis in disseminating moderation and Islamic culture, and helping needy people across the globe, he made clear.
The minister stressed Keenness of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on backing all national and sincere actions, and energies and talents of Kuwaitis.
Meanwhile, Jassem Al-Mesbah, head of the organizing committee of the celebration, said that philanthropy and maintaining heritage of Muslim nation have become inherent in the Kuwaiti people.
He referred to the great role of His Highness the Amir in the humanitarian filed, stating that His Highness the Amir was named by the UN in 2014 as a Humanitarian Leader, and Kuwait as a Humanitarian Center and the Capital of Islamic Culture 2016 for this role.
The celebration seeks to manifest the leading role of Kuwait in Islamic culture and moderation, he concluded. (end) mrf.ays.hm
