Beirut Marathon kicks off

BEIRUT, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- The annual BLOM Beirut Marathon was launched on Sunday with the participation of 43,000 runners from 99 countries.
Prime Minister-Designate Saad Al-Hariri was at the head of the participants in the events, as well as a number of MPs, former ministers, diplomats, journalists and artists.
The official organizer of the race Elham Al-Faqih said in a statement to KUNA that Beirut Marathon started as a sport activity to develop later and become an annual cultural event to attract tens of thousands of people from Lebanon and the world. Beirut Marathon 2016 includes different categories including the marathon for people with special needs. (end).
