WARSAW, Nov 7 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah announced Monday that Poland promised to support his country's application for exempting its nationals willing to travel to Schengen Area from visa requirement.
Al-Jarallah made the announcement following his meeting with head of the foreign affairs committee of the Polish parliament who is in charge of the EU affairs, and a number of Polish MPs.
The talks with the Polish side focused on the visa policy of the Schengen Area and Kuwait's bid for visa waiver as well as several bilateral issues, he said.
The Polish side in the meeting affirmed support to granting the Kuwaiti nationals visa-free access to the 26 members of the Area "as early as possible," the Kuwaiti official revealed.
He highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation and visit exchanges between the Kuwaiti and Polish MPs, commending the role of the parliamentary friendship committee in this regard.
The talks also dealt with the friendly relations and the prospects of cooperation in such areas as energy, investment, health, education and defense, Al-Jarallah went on.
Poland seeks accreditation for its universities in Kuwait, he said, noting that many European and US students, enrolled at such advanced universities, wish to pursue their study in Kuwait and other GCC member states.
He noted that Kuwaiti military officers are being trained at Polish military colleges, voicing hope for expanding the defense cooperation between the two countries.
Al-Jarallah, leading a delegation, arrived here yesterday from Ukraine on a visit to Poland.
The delegation includes assistants to the Foreign Minister Waleed Al-Khubaizi and Ayham Al-Omar, Al-Jarallah's chief of cabinet. (end)
