Clinton campaign urges FBI to give "more information" about new emails

WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Hillary Clinton's campaign has called on the FBI to provide "more information" on new emails which will be investigated as part of a former probe into her use of a private email while state secretary.
"Upon completing this investigation more than three months ago, FBI Director (James) Comey declared no reasonable prosecutor would move forward with a case like this and added that it was not even a close call," said Clinton's presidential campaign chairman.
John Podesta made the comments moments after FBI director Comey sent a letter to Congress members outlining "emails that appear to be pertinent to the investigation" discovered yesterday.
The emails were found as part of an investigation into Anthony Weiner, a former congressman who resigned in the aftermath of a scandal related to lewd text messages and whose wife was Huma Abedin, a Clinton adviser, officials told US media.
Podesta accused the Democratic nominee's Republican rival, Donald Trump, of intimidating FBI officials to "revisit their conclusion in a desperate attempt to harm Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign." Podesta said that the FBI director should "immediately provide the American public more information than is contained in the letter he sent to eight Republican committee chairmen.
He said Comey's words "do not match" the characterization of an investigation.
"We have no idea what those emails are and the Director himself notes they may not even be significant," he added.
Podesta said it was "extraordinary" that the matter would surface only 11 days before the November 8 election day. (pickup previous) sd.gb
