Iran's gas exports to Turkey halt due to pipeline sabotage act

TEHRAN, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Iran said Friday its natural gas exports to Turkey would be halted for seven days because of repairs on a gas pipeline in eastern Turkey following a terrorist attack on the facility, yesterday.
Turkey's Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS) informed the Iranian side that the pipeline, used to export Iranian gas to Turkey, was bombed inside the Turkish territories thus forcing halt of exports, Iranian national gas company said in a statement.
The explosion, which took place 12 kilometers inside the Turkish lands, forced halt of gas export "temporarily," it added.
It said it was ready to resume gas exports once BOTAS requested.
Iran's natural gas exports to Turkey jumped 8.8 percent in first eight months this year, totalling 650 million cubic meters. (end) fz.bs
