GCC condemns Ansarallah's missile targeting of Makkah region

RIYADH, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, said Friday the GCC strongly condemned the ballistic missile launched from Ansarallah group's territory in Yemen towards the Makkah region.
This attack is a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and a disrespect to the Islamic holy sites, Al-Zayani said in statement.
The attack is a clear evidence of the group's refusal to acknowledge the efforts by the international community to enforce the truce in Yemen and it is a denunciation of the political solution to the crisis, he added.
The Saudi air defense system was able to intercept and destroy the missile 65 kilometers (40 miles) from the target site with no damage reported. (end) yms.ss
