Irbil 5th int'l marathon kicks off

IRBIL, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- The fifth Irbil International Marathon kicked off here Friday under the slogan (towards a peaceful coexistence) with the participation of more than 4,000 runners from various countries, said an official Friday.
Speaking to KUNA, the marathon's director of public relations Ahmad Jameel said that the event this year included five, 10, and 42 kilometer races. Different age groups are partaking in the marathon, he added.
Irbil's Marathon is an international sport event aiming at reinforcing notions of love, peace, and non-violence in Iraq. It also aimed at informing the world that there was a strong community committed the development of sports in the region. (end) sbr.ss
