Ban calls for immediate, impartial investigation of Idlib school attacks

NEW YORK, Oct 27 (KUNA) -- UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called today for immediate and impartial investigation of attacks on a school complex in Idlib, Syria.
UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters that according to reports students and teachers were killed in a school complex in Haas Village in Idlib governorate.
He said that the UN Chief is "appalled," stressing that "if deliberate, this attack may amount to a war crime." He therefore called for immediate investigation of this and other similar attacks against civilians in Syria. "If such horrific acts persist despite global outrage, it is largely because their authors, whether in corridors of power or in insurgent redoubts, do not fear justice," he said in a statement. Therefore, Ban urged for them to be proved wrong.
On the same incident, the French Ambassador Francoise Delattre told reporters today on his way to Security Council that he is "horrified" by the bombing that left behind 22 children and 6 teachers killed at their school.
"This is unbearable. This is horrific. This is outrageous. Who is responsible for that?" he asked.
Delattre confirmed that it can not be the Syrian opposition, because they have no planes. "So it's either the Syrian regime or somebody else with planes," he added.
Delattre called it to be a war crime, urging to hold the perpetrators of those barbarian acts accountable.
He told reporters that they will keep up the pressure on the Syrian Regime and its allies to stop the bombing.(end) mao.ibi
