Ryan's former challenger plans to run for House speaker

WASHINGTON, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Republican Paul Nehlen, who was defeated by Speaker of the House Paul Ryan during the August 2 primary, announced plans to challenge Ryan again for the House top post.
The Wisconsin businessman called Ryan, in a statement on Wednesday, "the physical embodiment of Washington's disregard for the American people." It is not required that the Speaker of the House to have been a sitting member of Congress, but a non-member has never been elected to the job.
The House Republican Conference usually meets in November when a nominee may be elected before a vote in January.
But it is unlikely that Nehlen will receive the nomination. Instead Ryan may be challenged by another a conservative member already in Congress. (end) ak.gb
