CAIRO, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Egypt's Court of Cassation has upheld a life imprisonment sentence for the supreme guide of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood Mohammad Badie and 36 others in charges of murder and violence in July 2013.
The court issued its verdict on Wednesday, rejecting appeals submitted by the defendants.
Today's verdict came two years after a criminal court sentenced Badie and 36 others to life imprisonment.
The defendants had been charged with murder, attempted murder, attacking policemen, resisting authorities, blocking a main road in Qalyubia governorate and sabotage. They also were accused of destroying public and private properties.
The events of this case date back to July 2013, in the aftermath of the army-led overthrow of President Mohammad Morsi, a member of Muslim Brotherhood.
Morsi and some senior Brotherhood members, including former ministers, are facing other charges. (end) rgh.hm
