KUWAIT, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- Winners of the 16th edition of Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah Informatics Award, in best tech projects in the Arab World, are to be declared on Wednesday, award's organizing committee said Tuesday.
This year, the award has adopted a new approach in receiving nominations by tech institutions and bodies in Arab countries, followed by the process of evaluating and eliminating some nominees, and, thus, qualifying the most competent to the judging stage, Bassam Al-Shemmari, head of the organizing committee, said in a press statement.
One of the most significant highlights of the Award's history was forming a judging council compromised of highly-profiled judges from six Arab countries, Al-Shemmari noted, adding that the judges have also long experience and expertise in the informatics field.
For her part, Dr. Safa Zaman, member of the award's high organizing committee, said that judgment will be on bases of services, content, designing, applied technology, quality, coverage space, diversity of the e-sites and the smart apps.
Zaman also pointed out Sheikh Salem Al-Ali's informatics award's role, as cultural, development, and international project, in human development, adding that the award also aspires to build an enhanced and integrated informatics community.
She also praised Kuwait's efforts in the informatics development field as part of the directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. (end) zak.msa.ma
