Tokyo stocks hit 6-month high on Wall Street gain

TOKYO, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- Tokyo stocks rose on Tuesday, with a key index reaching a six-month high, helped by overnight gains on Wall Street and leading railway firm's successful market debut.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) advanced 130.83 points, or 0.76 percent, from Monday to 17,365.25, the highest close since April 25. The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index, which includes all First Section issues on the TSE, also gained 9.71 points, or 0.71 percent, to 1,377.32.
On Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 index closed higher on upbeat corporate results.
Kyushu Railway Co.'s strong debut on the TSE also cheered investors. In the currency market, at 5:25 p.m. (0825 GMT), the US dollar fetched JPY 104.22-26 against JPY 104.13-23 in New York and JPY 103.91-93 in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Monday. (end) mk.tg
