US condemns attack on Pakistan police academy

WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (KUNA) -- The US late Monday condemned what it called a "terrorist attack" on a police academy in Quetta, Pakistan, and reaffirmed its support for the government.
Local authorities said that at least 40 people were killed by at least three gunmen who stormed the building, which is in Balochistan province. The gunmen are also believed to be dead.
"We stand with the people of Pakistan and Government of Pakistan at this difficult hour, and we will continue to work with our partners in Pakistan and across the region to combat the threat of terrorism," State Department Spokesperson John Kirby said in a statement. (end) ys.gta
